Nepalese cuisine

Nepalese cuisine means the foods that are eaten in Nepal. Nepal serves at its best the food mingled with variety of spices resulting mouthwatering foods which I am sure nobody will easily forget the taste. There exist variety in culture and geography which also results in variety of cuisines, which are different based on the climate ethnicity and soil. Recipes may vary depending on season, people, ethnic group and family.Daal Bhat Tarkari is the national food of Nepal and is eaten throughout Nepal.

Daal is basically a soup made of lentils and spices.it is cooked with onion, garlic, chilli, ginger, tamarind and tomatoes. We can also use herbs like coriander for garnishing.

 Bhat is an over boiled rice in general but may also be replaced by barley, maize, buckwheat of millet depending upon the culture and ethnicity.
Tarkari, is a curry, a mixture of seasonal vegetable. There may be inclusion of curry made of chicken, goat meat or even fish.

Condiments are normally small amount of “chutney” which are extremely spicy or pickle which are either fresh or fermented. However we can other dressings of salads like slices of cucumber, lemon onion or carrot.
There is a famous saying in Nepal,”Dal Bhat power, 24 hour”.
